It is lockdown everywhere. Confused how to spend your time at home? Give one hour to Jesus so that the rest of the hours are blessed.
‘ Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “So, could you not stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial, the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”( Mathew 26:40-41).
This is the time of Passover. The time to be with our Lord through his passion.
The reward for staying awake for one hour is deliverance from temptations. Prayer is the process by which we subjugate our weak flesh to spirit. When Jesus said; ” This kind (evil spirit) can come out only through prayer and fasting ( Mark 9:29), he had this type of prayer in mind.
We invite our readers to stay awake for one hour tonight as preparation for Passover. It was at Passover that the tenth plague killed all the firstborn of Egypt, but spared the houses of Israelites. Jesus, our Passover Lamb, who has come to this world to deliver us from the evil, said; ‘See, God, I have come to do your will, O God’ ( Hebrews 10:7).
During this one hour vigil, let us contemplate on this verse. May Lord our God give us the strength to do His will.
